Get to the Point Workshops

		Get to the Point workshops are intensive half day sessions held on the day before and after the conference. These include Hands On Labs for practical learning. Led by experienced instructors these are additional training opportunities not to be missed! You can register for any of the Get to the Point courses while completing your event registration, should you wish to attend the sessions without attending the event please email support@spevents.co.nz to register. 1A	Visualising Data with Visio and SharePoint	Leverage the power of Visio to turn SharePoint data into diagrams. 1B	Site Collection Admin	Not quite a Power User, but not quite a Systems Admin or DBA? Are you an accidental SharePoint admin? Then maybe you need this mid-level Site Collection Admin course. This course will start with a high level walk through of the SharePoint Architecture and Central Administration and then cover the different security options, user profile service and best practices for allowing connections to back-end systems. We will also look at how to configure search to make information findable, implementing quotas, managing features for sites and site collections and monitoring SharePoint using analytics.	Liz Coup
1C	Search & Analytics	Are you getting the most out of search? Are you helping your people find the information they need? This course will focus on how we can use the search and user analytics that SharePoint Server 2010 provides to improve the findability on our sites. You will learn how to access and analyse usage data, how to manage keywords and best bets, a tool kit of ways to promote and give visibility to important information, some ideas to improve your navigation, and some guidelines so you don’t get carried away. 1D	Creating Electronic Forms with InfoPath 2010	In this half day session we will build an InfoPath Form from scratch and we will explore the validation capabilities of InfoPath that can be used to create rich online electronic forms. These electronic forms can include a wide variety of field controls and validation rules to ensure that your forms provide the correct values to start your business processes.	James Milne

2B	Monitoring and Troubleshooting Health and Performance for your SharePoint Installation	SharePoint 2010 introduced a dazzling array of new Monitoring Functionality, but where do I start? How do I improve the time it takes to load my site and why won’t my solution deploy? In this session Mark will introduce and explain improvements made to this Monitoring Functionality, and how best to leverage these improvements for analysis and troubleshooting SharePoint 2010 Farms Servers, Web Applications and Site Collection. 2E	Introduction to Office 365 and how to get started with SharePoint Online team sites	Microsoft’s new Office 365 in the cloud provides the opportunity to leverage SharePoint without the cost and complexity of managing the infrastructure. This hands on session will help you understand what is actually available and get you started on the right track with SharePoint Online. What changes and what doesn’t with Office 365 and SharePoint Online? How and when should I create SharePoint sites? Who should have access to the new site? How should I structure the navigation? Covering a mix of concepts and practical hands on exercises you will grow in confidence and maximise your organisations return on investment in SharePoint as a platform. 3D	A Tour of SharePoint Designer	This session is ideal for those who are already familiar with using SharePoint Designer 2007 for customizing and designing SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 sites, and want to learn about how to use SharePoint Designer 2010. It is also ideal for those who are new to SharePoint and about to embark on customizing SharePoint 2010 sites using SharePoint Designer 2010. Come along to this session to understand differences between SharePoint Designer 2007 and SharePoint Designer 2010. You'll learn how to work with SharePoint Designer 2010 to customise SharePoint 2010 sites. In the workshop, we will cover master pages, CSS and themes, and introduce you to the data view Web part (DVWP). Getting Started with Business Intelligence

This course includes an introduction to SharePoint 2010 Insights, enabling Business Intelligence in SharePoint 2010 and the features of the Business Intelligence Centre.
We will explore the BI building blocks of visualising data using chart web parts, integrating your existing Reporting Services reports and monitoring performance with status indicator lists. We will also look at setting up Excel Services, creating interactive reports and getting started with PowerPivot in Excel 2010.
